Marriage Certificates Marriage Certificates are as old as the marriage ritual. However, the most collectible certificates are the colorful images the 19th century was able to offer us with their new colorful printing techniques. The oldest I have in my collection dates to the 1840’s but I’m sure hand colored certificates precede this date. I have a whole wall covered with wedding certificates dating as I mentioned from the 1840’s to the later19th century and early 20th century colorful images. My favorite is my 1870’s certificate by Currier & Ives. When I get it framed I will include a picture of it in my descriptions. Click on Thumbnail to See Larger Photo |
