Wedding Cake Toppers

MY PASSION! Wedding Cake toppers are lovely little miniatures that sit on top of the wedding cake.  They vary in decoration from love symbols such as cupids, birds, bells, flowers, horseshoes, slippers, clasped hands, to little bride and grooms in various, sizes, styles, and materials.   Their ages vary as well.   I have a Cupid cake topper in my collection dating to 1873.  Brides and grooms hand made from food product (sugar base mixture) and bisque bride and groom dolls date to the last quarter of the nineteenth century.  Mass produced food product bride and grooms on pedestals appeared from the late 1880’s and still appear on wedding cakes today.   In the UK vases of flowers, and banners with the bridal couples coat of arms were very popular cake decoration.
